Bluetooth is a cable replacement technology. Since Bluetooth is a global standard, Bluetooth devices of different manufacturers can interoperate using shared profiles.

Bluetooth technology was designed primarily to support simple wireless networking of personal consumer devices and peripherals, including cell phones, PDAs, and wireless headsets. Wireless signals transmitted with Bluetooth cover short distances, typically up to 30 feet (10 meters).

Common Bluetooth profiles used by Nitrox products:

- A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile): Streamed stereo quality audio profile. Used on all Nitrox stereo headphones, headsets, ipod dongle and audio dongles.

- AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Protocol): Remote control profile. Functions like Play, Fast Forward, Stop, etc. Used in many stereo applications. Used on all Nitrox stereo headphones and headsets.

- HFP (Hands Free Profile) Profile used to place and receive calls for a hand-free device. This profile is used on Nitrox x-free handsfree products.

-HSP (Head Set Profile): Profile used to describe how a Bluetooth enabled headset should communicate with a Bluetooth enabled device. All Nitrox headphones and headsets, handsfree devices support this profile.
